SOCCER IS HERE!!! Groups A-C

WORLD CUP SOCCER IS HERE and I am thrilled. I am stepping aside my customary norms of random posts for a while and am gonna write about SOCCER as I said earlier….. Ahaha!!!!

32 teams 8 groups

Group A

Germany / Poland / Costa Rica / Ecuador

My Fave in the group: Germany. They are the giants of the group. Host nations have always done well. Germany were lucky to have been drawn in what looks like the easiest groups of the competition. Germany Michael Ballack, one of the best midfielders today and their captain who is doubtful to play in the first game. It would be interesting to watch them play without Ballack. However, I see Germany losing in quarter-finals. will progress - at least at first - by virtue of home advantage, but it’s a fact that they rely too much on

Other teams in this group, not much contest. Poland or Ecuador may qualify for the top 16. I don’t care.

Predictions
Into the next round: GERMANY and POLAND

Group B

England / Sweden / Paraguay / Trinidad & Tobago

My Fave in the group: England: With or without Wayne Rooney, England are in.

Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Owen are all world class players. Not overlooking Peter Crouch, who kind of looks in a superlative form. I see England cruising trough to SEMI FINALS and meet Brazil. Should they win against Brazil I can bet them lifting the trophy and parading it on the London streets.

It would be interesting to see how Sweden and Paraguay play. Both are fairly good sides. I would support Sweden though because of Freddie Ljungberg, the impressive arsenal midfielder and the Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson. Again not to forget the Juventus forward Zaltan Ibrahimovic.  Honestly, Paraguay is good too, their star player being Roque Santa Cruz who has recently been declared fit. But again, I feel Sweden is better.

Predictions
Into the next round: ENGLAND and SWEDEN

Group C

Argentina / Netherlands / Ivory Coast / Serbia and Montenegro

My Fave in the group: Netherlands. Ahhhhhh!!! Group C. This has to be the toughest group in the 2006 world cup. Netherlands have a tough competition; however they are a great and gritty team. Van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben, and Robin Van Persie are excellent strikers. Cocu and Van der vaart striking midfielders, Kromkamp and Bronckhorst remarkable defenders and well, one of the world's best keepers, Edwin Van der Sar. I see Netherlands in SEMI’s. They are of my Fave’s after England.

Argentina, are probably the toughest team in this group. Leo Messi will be the man to watch with SaviolaAimar. They are definitely through till the quarters, unless we see upsets like those in 2002 world cup. and

If at all any surprises, it might be in group C as Ivory Coast is not a team that could be underestimated. Strikers such as Drogba can turn the tables. With Eboue and Toure in the defense, I rekon they should be a good team to watch.

Serbia hasn’t lost a game in their road to world cup, so well there you go.

Predictions
Into the next round: NETHERLANDS and ARGENTINA

More Later.... Will write about other groups in the next post.

And this is my latest creation in PHOTOSHOP!!!! AHAHAHA!!!! XD;

Cool man! Even I can't wait for the world cup start.
Like your predictions, but somehow I suspect an upset in the group of death. My money is on Serbia and Montenegro joining the Dutch in the round of 16. Too bad for Argentina and Ivory Coast though, coz if they were in different groups, all 4 would have probably made it through the group stage alive.

I totally agree, this is one of the groups where upset is sure.... and well i wouldn't mind either serbia or ivory coast, as long as netherlands is safe...
